Butchered baseball

Published in the United States, Butchered Baseball is an exceptional and highly collectible vintage humor book created by writer F. S. Pearson, 2d and celebrated cartoonist R. Taylor. Building on the brilliant comedic partnership that produced popular satire volumes like Fractured French and Compound Fractured French, this book targets America's pastime with absurd wit, linguistic puns, and whimsical visual gags. The volume humorously dissects baseball rules, umpire decisions, and diamond eccentricities through deadpan text paired with R. Taylor's signature energetic cartoon illustrations.

The front cover features a striking green backdrop framed by red diagonal stripes, with the bold title BUTCHERED BASEBALL printed across the top in white-outlined lettering. The central framed illustration depicts a stylish woman in heels sliding headfirst into a base amid a cloud of dust, while bewildered baseball players wearing uniforms labeled Fire Flies watch from the background. The lower green section displays credits and promotional copy: Illegal text by F. S. Pearson, 2d, With illogical illustrations by R. TAYLOR, Creators of FRACTURED FRENCH and COMPOUND FRACTURED FRENCH, and With Mel Allen at Bat; Tom Meany on Deck. Inside, the pages present a delightful sequence of captioned single-panel cartoons. An essential centerpiece collectible for baseball memorabilia collectors, vintage humor enthusiasts, and mid-century cartoon archives.
