Funny cartoons

Published in the United States by Gold Medal Books, a division of Fawcett Publications, Funny Cartoons by VIP is a hilarious vintage paperback collection featuring the classic gag cartoons of legendary American illustrator Virgil Partch, universally known by his artistic signature VIP. Famous for his wildly inventive slapstick, exaggerated character anatomy, and nonsensical sight gags, Partch was one of mid-century America's most popular and influential magazine cartoonists.

The front cover features a bold red and white color-blocked design, topped by the circular Gold Medal Book medal emblem in the upper left corner next to catalog number 445. Above the primary title, tagline text proclaims Hilarious! Uproarious! By America's favorite cartoonist. The main title FUNNY CARTOONS is printed prominently in bright yellow stylized block lettering, followed by the attribution by VIP in black script. The lower white panel showcases a classic Partch single-panel gag set in a modern kitchen, depicting a woman in a red dress poking her husband in the back with an electric hand mixer while shouting "Stick 'em up!" as he vibrates violently in shock. The original 25c cover price is displayed in the upper right of the white panel. Inside, the pages are filled with single-panel cartoons filled with mid-century domestic satire, slapstick absurdity, and expressive line art. An essential centerpiece collectible for vintage paperback collectors, cartoon art lovers, and mid-century humor archives.
