La creation de l'homme

Published in France by Editions Cercle d'Art Paris, La Creation de l'Homme (Le Roman d'Adam et Eve) is an enchanting and highly collectible vintage cartoon book created by the renowned French artist and caricaturist Jean Effel. Known for his whimsical, poetic, and gently irreverent style, Effel reimagines the Genesis creation story with immense charm, depicting a grandfatherly, white-bearded Creator assembling the universe, nature, and humanity with humor, tailoring tools, and artistic ingenuity.

The front cover features a delightful color illustration set against a grey background, showing the Creator standing in a landscape by a tree, carefully draping anatomical muscle skin over a partially built figure standing on a stool. A small angel assistant looks on, holding supplies, while sewing tools, rolled blueprints, scissors, and a pincushion rest on the ground. In the upper left, the artist signature JEAN EFFEL appears in red script above the large red main title LA CREATION DE L'HOMME. Across the upper right margin, text reads LE ROMAN D'ADAM ET EVE, and along the bottom border, the publisher credit is printed in red capital letters reading EDITIONS CERCLE D'ART PARIS. Inside, the book is filled with Effel's signature witty line drawings and comic panels. An essential centerpiece collectible for vintage European cartoon archives, Jean Effel collectors, and classic graphic humor enthusiasts.
