Los comics un arte del siglo XX

Published in Spain by Ediciones Guadarrama as part of its esteemed Punto Omega paperbacks series, Los Comics: un arte del siglo XX is a foundational Spanish-language study written by acclaimed critic, film historian, and comic specialist Javier Coma. Published during the golden era of Spanish comic scholarship in the late 1970s, this volume explores the historical development, artistic grammar, and cultural legitimacy of sequential art, framing comic strips and graphic novels as one of the defining visual mediums of the twentieth century.

The front cover features a clean, off-white background centered around a classic comic-strip speech bubble design. At the top, the author's name Javier Coma is printed in stylized red block lettering. Inside the large white speech balloon, the title LOS COMICS appears in vibrant orange pop-art typography, above the red italicized subtitle un arte del siglo XX. Small thought bubbles lead down to a dramatic color illustration depicting two figures splashing vigorously in water. At the bottom, the imprint text PUNTO OMEGA / Guadarrama is displayed along with the distinctive Punto Omega publisher emblem. Inside, the book contains detailed historical text, artistic commentary, and black-and-white panel illustrations covering iconic international comic strips and creators. An essential centerpiece collectible for vintage comic book historians, Spanish graphic art collectors, and pop culture archivists.
