Peter Arno

Published in the United Kingdom by Penguin Books, The Penguin Peter Arno is an exceptional and highly collectible vintage graphic humor volume gathering a classic selection of cartoons by the legendary artist Peter Arno. As one of the cornerstone cartoonists of The New Yorker, Arno revolutionized modern single-panel cartooning with his bold, heavy brushstrokes, dynamic compositions, and sophisticated, cynical wit. This collection highlights his razor-sharp satire of high-society night owls, wealthy tycoons, glamorous debutantes, and the comedic absurdities of mid-century urban life.

The front cover features the classic tri-band Penguin layout, topped by a bold orange-red header band displaying the title THE PENGUIN PETER ARNO alongside the iconic Penguin logo in the upper right corner. The central frame showcases a striking black-and-white illustration depicting a sleekly drawn woman in a bathroom looking toward a glass shower stall door with a humorous, dynamic scenario unfolding inside. The lower right corner displays the original price mark of 2/6. Inside, the pages present dozens of Arno's masterfully executed, high-contrast ink cartoons. An essential centerpiece collectible for New Yorker enthusiasts, cartoon historians, and vintage Penguin paperback collectors.
