Porco Rosso

Published in France by Éditions Glénat, Porco Rosso Vol. 1 is an exceptional and highly collectible full-color anime comic created by master animator Hayao Miyazaki and legendary animation studio Studio Ghibli. Adapting the beloved 1992 animated feature film into a graphic novel format, this volume utilizes crisp, high-resolution original animation cels and production stills arranged into dynamic full-color comic panels. Set over the Adriatic Sea during the interwar period, the narrative follows the adventures of Porco Rosso, a World War I ace pilot turned bounty hunter who lives under a mysterious curse that transformed his face into that of a pig.

The front cover features a sleek black background topped by ANIME COMIC printed on the upper left and Japanese kanji for Kurenai no Buta on the upper right. The iconic title Porco Rosso is prominently rendered across the upper center in dynamic red serif typography with white outlines, alongside a large blue number 1 designating the volume. A central framed color animation still depicts Porco Rosso wearing his aviator cap and sunglasses, relaxing on a lounge chair while drinking a glass of wine on a sunny beach. The bottom margin displays the creator name HAYAO MIYAZAKI and the red Glénat publisher logo. Inside, the pages present vibrant full-color film frames accompanied by translated dialogue bubbles. An essential centerpiece collectible for Studio Ghibli enthusiasts, Hayao Miyazaki collectors, anime comic archives, and European graphic novel libraries.
