The Saturday evening post cartoons

Published in the United States by Lion Library, The Saturday Evening Post Cartoons is a classic vintage paperback collection edited by acclaimed cartoon editor John Bailey. Carrying catalog number LL 58 and originally priced at 35 cents, this anthology brings together a curated selection of premier gag cartoons from the pages of America's iconic weekly magazine, capturing the wit, domestic humor, and observational satire of mid-century American life.

The front cover features a dynamic multi-paneled artwork layout set against a dark background. In the upper left corner, the Lion Library logo sits above the 35c price mark, flanked by staggered headline typography declaring it's a riot... it's a madhouse... it's... THE SATURDAY EVENING POST Cartoons, with the word Cartoons rendered in playful, multicolored block letters. The cover showcases several featured cartoon panels, including a pink-tinted suburban scene by Tom Henderson depicting a man pushing a lawnmower toward a woman relaxing on a blanket, a yellow-tinted panel by Syverson showing pedestrians on a city street, and an oval vignette by Cobean depicting a high-society spectacle. The right side prominently notes edited by JOHN BAILEY alongside white decorative line figures. Inside, the volume contains single-panel black-and-white cartoons celebrating classic American humor and top-tier magazine cartooning. An essential centerpiece collectible for vintage paperback collectors, cartoon art lovers, and mid-century magazine archives.
