The secret world of Roy Williams

Published in the United States by Bantam Books, The Secret World of Roy Williams is an entertaining vintage paperback collection featuring the playful, irreverent, and adult-oriented cartoon art of Disney artist and television personality Roy Williams. Best known to millions as Big Roy, the genial artist wearing Mouseketeer ears on Walt Disney's The Mickey Mouse Club, Williams was also a prolific gag cartoonist whose offbeat, adult humor appeared across major American magazines.

Featuring catalog number 1697, the front cover displays an off-white layout framed on the top left by the iconic Bantam Books rooster crest and the original 25c price tag. Multicolored headlines across the top playfully inquire: HERE'S A GREAT, BIG GUY SPENDS HIS DAYS WEARING A MOUSE HAT AND DRAWING CARTOONS FOR KIDS. WHAT DO YOU SUPPOSE HE THINKS OF WHEN THE KIDS ARE ASLEEP?. The central line illustration shows a self-portrait sketch of Roy Williams wearing his signature mouse ears cap with a pencil tucked behind his ear. Multicolored descriptor text across his shoulder proclaims CARTOONS CARTOONS CARTOONS WEIRD WACKY WONDERFUL, leading into the main title THE SECRET WORLD OF ROY WILLIAMS in bold black block typography. Inside, the book contains single-panel black-and-white gag cartoons filled with mid-century observational humor and clever visual satire. An essential centerpiece collectible for vintage cartoon paperback collectors, Disney history enthusiasts, and mid-century humor archives.
